Think of your wellness as a three sided effort. If you are seeking good health, tending to all three sides is a great idea!
One side of the triangle is your chemical self. The food you eat, the way your body digests and absorbs the nutrients. The ways your glands, organs and systems utilize those nutrients to function and regulate your body’s function.
The second side of the triangle is your physical body. Making sure to take care of your self using body work like massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, yoga, exercise, stretching, hydration and good sleep.
The third, and often forgotten side of the triangle is your energy body or emotional body. The energetic pathways that run through your body to fortify your organs and systems need tending just as much as your physical and chemical body does. There are many ways to access and balance this part of your system. Reiki, sound healing, meditation/visualization, chanting, craniosacral therapies and breath work are examples of modalities that target this area of your health. When this system is in balance it will enhance the function of the other systems and increase your vitality and overall stamina.
Chakra systems are an ancient understanding of how our energy flows through our bodies and fortifies our wellness. Check out this illustration from Barbara Brennan. Notice how the energy centers emanate from the front and back of our bodies and each chakra has a correlating layer in our aura or field that surrounds our bodies. Barbara Brennan’s books, Hands of Light and Light Emerging, do a great job of explaining some of the dynamics of our energy bodies and how to work with clearing blockages to their function. Freeing up your energy body allows your physical and chemical body to balance itself giving you a better foundation for relaxing and relating to others.
