Regulation Thermometry

What is Regulation Thermometry?

Regulation thermometry is a whole-body functional test that involves measuring the skin temperature at over 100 points on the body before and after a person experiences subtle cool air stress.
The measurement points mapped on the skin have been documented to connect to an underlying organ or tissue through the viscero cutaneuous reflex arc. The practitioner uses a sophisticated infrared thermometer to gently touch the skin and take a precise temperature reading at each measurement point. Each temperature reading is recorded in a software program inside the alfasight 9000 tablet.
Before the test, the patient should sit and relax for 10-15 minutes to relax and adjust to the room temperature wearing loose-fitting long sleeves and long pants. The whole test is performed with the patient standing.
We begin the test by taking the first set of point measurements (this takes about 5 minutes to complete). After the first set of points is collected the patient is asked to remove their shirt and pants (continue wearing underwear) to stand for the 10 minute cooling period exposing skin to the controlled room temperature air (68-70 degrees). This acts as a subtle thermal stress stimulus and stimulates the process of thermoregulation. Once the cooling period is over we then take the second set of temperature measurements identical to the first. The whole test takes 20-25 minutes to complete. After the testing is completed the alfasight system software graphs the temperature readings.

MRIs, Mammograms and Cat Scans, are imaging tests that are trying to detect growth or aberration in the anatomy. Regulation Thermometry is a physiological test. Coming at the same problem from a different perspective. Looking for function of organs and tissues and systems as opposed to relying solely on blood labs or imaging. This is an adjunct tool for gaining functional information related to early-stage disease processes. This information gives a holistic view of what is going on in your body and is then used to optimize your plan for dealing with health challenges as well as strengthening outcomes for disease prevention and achieving your optimal level of health.
