Fact or Fad: Busting The Never-Ending Health Myths

Do you think I should add Quinoa into my diet? Did you read that article on coconut oil? My mother just called to tell me I should be taking a fish oil, is that something I should really be doing?  There’s not a single day that goes by that I’m not asked for my opinion on foods, nutrition trends, or any number of supplements, and while some of my answers are pretty straightforward, some are not.  In today’s world of unlimited access to infinite sources of information…and Dr. Google, how do you know who you can trust when it comes to your health? Other than looking for who sponsored said research for the article you are reading, and inquiring how that information was obtained, the next best answer from me is: I ask the expert.  Your own body.  Sure quinoa is a great food, coconut oil?! bring it on! Fish oil? Yes please – or not.

Ok, so right about now, you’re probably asking – ‘but Kelley, how does my body tell you what it needs?’ My answer: With a technique called Nutrition Response Testing.  This non-invasive system of analyzing the body helps determine the underlying causes of ill and non-optimum health, but also helps us determine the appropriate supplement programs and dietary suggestions to help aide your body in healing itself.  Through this analysis, we are testing your body’s neurological reflexes.  These reflexes are the body’s way of telling us what, and how your nervous system is doing – as it is the nervous system’s responsibility to regulate the body’s functions for each and every organ.  Organs, glands, joints, muscles, etc, these are all points we check to ensure we are uncovering all barriers such as metal and chemical toxicity, food imbalances, immune challenges, and scarring.  After we identify the underlying reason your body is creating symptoms, we can isolate and verify the precise whole food supplements and quantities your body needs to resolve its problems.

I am forever inspired by this work, and in awe of what the body is capable of doing on its own with the right tools.  It is my personal mission to help educate and empower my community when it comes to wellness and nutrition, and to help break the seemingly endless cycle of symptoms.  It is my wish for this blog to serve as a way to get that information into your hands, and in the hands of those you love.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to come in to experience this technique for yourself by offering a complimentary two part nutritional and wellness screening to anyone who is not currently under care, when you call and mention the Heal For Real blog.

Stay happy, stay healthy.
